Welcome to Historic Boathouse Row, home to four of the first Yacht Clubs devoted exclusively to affordable community recreational power boating. The four historic Clubs have been the stewards of the Anacostia River and Boathouse Row for over 100 years.
Historic Anacostia Boating Association (HABA), a District of Columbia chartered non-profit corporation, established in January 2009, operates as the overall management agency for the four motorized boat clubs along Boathouse Row. HABA will play a central role in implementing the recommendations of the Boathouse Row Planning Study of 2009, and use the Anacostia waterfront as a community resource.
HABA has adopted a central mission of preserving the availability of affordable recreational boating for people who live and work in Washington DC. While making boating available to the community at large, HABA will also promote teaching of subjects about safe boating and the participation in boating-oriented groups such as the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Sea Scouts.
Boathouse Row is unlike anyplace else in the City and represents one of the dwindling number of historic Washington venues that have been spared the cookie-cutter redevelopment and corporate commercialization of other parts of the City.
Location: Between 11'" St. Bridge & CSX Railroad Bridge and part of the 20 mile Riverwalk Bike Trail along the west side of the Anacostia River.
