The Historic Anacostia Boating Association (HABA) is committed to the preservation of affordable community recreational boating and educational opportunities for residents of the District of Columbia. It is HABA's goal to ensure the preservation of the historic role the member Clubs have played for over a century: affordable boating; community access; stewardship of the river and the environment; and hands-on maritime education and training. It is HABA's intent to develop a modern, full service marina that will include a maintenance facility, an access ramp for trailered boats and piers for water taxi services. Also included in this development plan is a community center, green space and park facilities with restrooms, and the restoration of the historic Washington Gas Pump House. This project is the future for a greater connection between the riverfront, historic Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and the greater southeast community.
